SS13 TRENDS

Posted on March 15 2013

Everything you need to know about this season's hottest trends and how to wear them. Words by Luisa Biochi. Strong elements of effortless and wearable styles are expected in the upcoming Spring season. The idea of ‘pull on and go’ will be seen through simple, figure flattering tailoring, layers of tactile fabrics and muted colours. Nothing too complicated, just great pieces that are easy to combine and make their statement through simplicity of tailoring and quality of materials. Think linen, waterfall layers of sheer fabrics and casual, cropped styles for blouses and jackets. Big stripes are also expected to come through in various forms providing a runway trend that’s easily wearable. Go full out for the bold and daring wow-factor or choose an accent piece for a hint of ‘Parisian Sunday’ style. The concept of the girly girl was celebrated in the runway trends for Spring 2013, like a breath of fresh air after a Winter season of heavier sparkles and burgundy tones. Sheer fabrics in dresses, blouses and skirts create an ethereal silhouette, keeping to a soft colour palette of pinks, greys and powdery hues.  Lace will remain very popular in various colours and worked in to both day and evening looks. The florals will be big and more digitised, almost abstract to create a hazy and romantic feel.  A favourite accessory of 2012, the collar, will continue in to 2013, whether bold and embellished as elegant jewellery or cute Peter Pan style for daytime or work. Spring will be all about these extra details incorporated in to garments adding interest and intricacy.
