Last night, Laura (our head of all things digital) was treated to a lovely meal with her other half, Ste. They travelled over the border to a restaurant in the centre of Huddersfield called Discovery Bay. Here's how their night went!
"Half term holidays equals a free night for Ste & I, and when he suggested we go out for food I instantly said let's go to Discovery Bay. We've been meaning to visit the restaurant since we tried their food last Summer at the Wray & Nephew Overproof Rum Jamaican Independence Party held at Belgrave Music Hall in Leeds. We spoke to two lovely ladies who were cooking curried goat and spicy chicken dishes for the event, and they told us if we liked the food we must visit Discovery Bay. Half a year later, we finally made it!
After a quick drive from Manchester to Yorkshire, we arrived at the restaurant and were greeted by lovely staff and a welcoming atmosphere. I couldn't wait to get my hands on a menu to see what dishes I could try. We chose starters to share - sweet potato and vegetable spring rolls with Caribbean crab cakes and plenty of sweet chilli sauce! And for our main meal, Ste chose pork tenderloin served with Caribbean mash but personally, I couldn't resist the sweet beef, marinated in rich honey and teriyaki sauce. My main was very tasty but I must admit, I did suffer from a little food envy as Ste's was delicious! Unfortunately, we were too full for desserts but I would have loved to try their lime zest and ginger cheesecake... maybe next time!
Here's a few photos of our scrumptious food and the lovely restaurant! If you're ever in Huddersfield or the surrounding area, make sure you pop in and try some Caribbean cuisine!"
