Words by Hannah Beaumont-Laurencia, Director of Beaumont Organic.
Well, June has just flown by! Working in Fashion means we are dictated by seasonal collections and with this comes intense periods leading up to collection launches. It certainly seems that the busier we are at HQ, the quicker the time passes and the stronger the team becomes uniting and supporting each other in achieving our goals.
This month’s goal was to shoot the SS19 collection and prepare the look-book ready for SS19 selling, which commences in July, and runs through till the first week of September. During this time, we show our collection to buyers all around the world so that they can make a selection from the collection to stock in their stores. It’s a really important time of year and crucial that we make good choices with model selection, location and styling.
Erica, our designer and production manager, had already done a fantastic job on designing the SS19 collection and we knew it would look stunning in an outdoor location. So, after a bit of scouting we decided to choose the beach at Formby and a striking model, which produced stunning results and without a doubt, our strongest photoshoot and collection ever!! As the Beaumont Organic team has grown through the years, our vision and belief for sustainable fashion has grown with it. We now have more heads together on the team and we really are so much stronger - this really shone through both at the shoot and in the editing process. We have expanded the range to include artisan straw products, recycled silver jewellery and handmade pottery, the latter two both made in Manchester and this further supported the collection and our values as we pave the way for fashion to have a more sustainable future. Everything from the cruelty free make-up we used on the model, to the paper we printed the final book on had been consciously thought through and it just feels so right.
I have popped a few behind the scenes snaps below, with lots more to follow in January when the collection launches online and in stores worldwide.
Though the photoshoot consumed a lot of our time, it defintiely wasn't the only thing we did this month. I've been busy booking in many SS19 appointments ready for the London preview, arranging our trip to Berlin ready for fashion week… and I even slipped in a few days in New York to celebrate my husband Nelson’s birthday!
What a month... I can’t wait to start showing the collection in July. x
