Mindful Moment - March
Vision Boards with Jaina
Yoga teacher and resident Yoga expert at Beaumont Organic Jaina Bhana-Mistry, guides us through living with purpose, passion and inner peace.
Well hello again, I cannot quite believe it is this time of the year already!!! Time is going fast and there is a lot to reflect on.
All good things, but I think it is important to slow down and check in with myself regularly. I wrote to you back in October 2022 with my Mindful Moments, 5 Statements of Gratitude (click here to read). Today I share with you about the power of manifesting and how Yoga helps me live with purpose, passion and inner peace.
Often, we want something, because someone has it. Sometimes, we see something on the TV (more Instagram now) and think I want that. Isn’t it funny how we always want something…food, clothes, shoes, house, garden, car, job, family, money or holiday. However we don’t always get what we want, and if we do, we might feel dissatisfied once we have it.
How has manifesting and yoga helped me live with purpose, passion and inner peace?
Firstly there are eight principles (eight limbs) of YOGA, these are also known as the philosophy of yoga - Yama (Disciplines), Niyama (Positive Duties), Asana (Poses), Pranayama (Breathing), Pratyahara (Withdrawal), Dharana (Focus), Dhyana (Meditation) and Samadhi (Enlightenment).
To live to purpose, passion and inner peace, I practise these principles everyday. I would never say I am 100% perfect at them all, but I try to focus on my intentions and let go of any comparisons.
Manifesting for me isn’t about ‘greed’ or ‘possession.’ It is about how something makes me ‘feel’ and ‘why’ it has a purpose in my life, yes this might include the house, the car, the job, the holiday, but rather than the possession of having them, I focus on happiness, freedom, calmness and creating abundance. Before I start my vision board, I alway meditate, Dhyana - one of the eight principles of Yoga. I need a clear mind and want to hear my own inner voice. I want to remove any negative thoughts, focus on positive intentions and need to be fully grounded before I start.
“Having a vision creates a path for the future.” - Oprah.
I have been curating my future self through vision boards, manifesting and mediation, for around five or six years now, and last year was the best version of my vision board so far. This year I collaborated with my long-time friend, Hannah Beaumont-Laurencia, CEO of Beaumont Organic to share our passion with like-minded individuals on their journey to a “better” future.
We created a safe space that was calm, comfortable and somewhere away from distractions. We wanted to share our secret and to help others focus (Dharana - another principle found in yoga philosophy) on their passion. We wanted them to ‘dare to dream as big as possible’ and to actually be able to manifest their future self.
The evening was a success, everyone was in high spirits and there was a high frequency of energy between the group. I cannot wait to see everyone again in six months time when we will be doing an accountability check-in and social gathering to support them on their continuous journey - you have to keep working on the small things to achieve the big dreams.
