MINDFUL MOMENT - MAY
Finding a mindful moment in this busy climate is hard.
Even if you’re like me, trying your best to stay away from using the word ‘busy’ it does seem to describe life perfectly, sometimes!
I moved to North Wales around 8 years ago and decided to move to a very rural village called Nantlle just before the first lockdown. Nantlle is in the Snowdonia National Park and the view of the mountains and lake from the house was one of the main selling points.
I’m an actor and Yoga teacher and my work can be based all over the place, so I travel a lot! I wanted somewhere that would encourage me to slow down and live a more mindful lifestyle when I was home and over the past two years, living in Nantlle has definitely offered me that!
Living in the middle of the country will undoubtedly help you to live a more intentional life. It will help you to embrace nature and all it has to offer through the seasons. However, if there’s one thing that I’ve learnt over the past two years, it’s that no matter where you live or what you do, living more mindfully begins with our mindset and our ability to control what we call in Yoga ‘the monkey mind’.
The ‘monkey mind’ describes our busy, restless, uncontrollable and indecisive mind that tends to run the show. Gaining some control over our ‘monkey mind’ will help to bring both your body and mind back into the present moment. It allows you to focus on the now where you’re not anxious about the past or worrying about the future - this, for me personally, is the ultimate mindful moment.
The trouble is that controlling our monkey mind takes work and practice and a lot of discipline. Three things that we as human beings find difficult. However, the rewards are endless and this is what we have to remind ourselves every time our ‘monkey mind’ tries to intervene and tell us that we’re too tired, too wired, too hungry or of course, the classic, too busy to practice something mindful.
We also have to remember that if we’re living busy lifestyles, we have to prioritise these mindful moments even more. The busier our lives are, the less time we have to be sick, to feel anxious, stressed, uninspired or unenergised.
Affirmations to remember around this mindful moment could be:

SURRENDERING -
Releasing the need to control and allowing things to flow to you when they’re meant to​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
SETTING BOUNDARIES -
Giving yourself what you need rather than putting others first​​​​​​​​

FINDING BALANCE -
Staying out of drama and operating from a space of love​​​​​​​​
​​​​​​​​
SLOWING DOWN -
Giving yourself the permission to be present, no matter how scary that feels

Hyd yn oed os ydych chi fel fi, yn ceisio eich gorau i gadw draw o ddefnyddio’r gair ‘prysur’ mae’n disgrifio bywyd yn berffaith, weithiau!
Symudais i Ogledd Cymru tua 8 mlynedd yn ôl a phenderfynais symud i bentref gwledig iawn o'r enw Nantlle ychydig cyn y clo cyntaf. Mae Nantlle ym Mharc Cenedlaethol Eryri ac roedd yr olygfa o’r mynyddoedd a’r llyn o’r tŷ yn un o’r prif rheswm dros symud yma.
Rwy'n actor ac yn athrawes Yoga a gall fy ngwaith fod wedi'i seilio ym mhob rhan o'r byd, felly rwy'n teithio lot! Roeddwn i eisiau rhywle a fyddai’n fy annog i arafu a byw bywyd mwy ystyriol pan oeddwn adref a thros y ddwy flynedd diwethaf, mae byw yn Nantlle yn bendant wedi cynnig hynny i mi!
Heb os, bydd byw yng nghanol y wlad yn eich helpu i fyw bywyd mwy bwriadol. Bydd yn eich helpu i gofleidio byd natur a’r cyfan sydd ganddi i’w gynnig drwy’r tymhorau. Y drafferth yw bod rheoli ein meddwl mwnci yn cymryd gwaith, ymarfer a llawer o ddisgyblaeth. Tri pheth sy’n anodd i ni fel bodau dynol. Fodd bynnag, mae pob tro werth e, a dyma mae'n rhaid i ni ei atgoffa ein hunain bob tro y mae ein ‘meddwl mwnci' yn ceisio ymyrryd, ag yn dweud wrthym ein bod yn llawer rhy flinedig, yn rhy weiren, yn rhy newynog neu wrth gwrs, y clasurol, yn rhy brysur i ymarfer rhywbeth ystyriol!
Mae'n rhaid i ni gofio hefyd, os ydym yn byw bywydau prysur, mae'n rhaid i ni flaenoriaethu'r eiliadau ystyriol hyd yn oed yn fwy. Po brysuraf yw ein bywydau, y lleiaf o amser sydd gennym i fod yn sâl, i deimlo'n bryderus neu o dan straen.
